Gold Coast Family Accommodation

Gold Coast Family Accommodation

Searching for family accommodation on the Gold Coast can be an overwhelming experience due to the sheer volume of choices. To make your job easier it pays to write down a list of things that will assist you with focusing your choice. Some of those things might be:

  1. Budget – how much do you want pay per night for your accommodation? Self contained apartments allow you the choice of catering if you so desire and keep the costs down but also eat out if you want.
  2. Location – what do you want to be close to? If your children want to go to the Theme Parks then choosing your holiday accommodation at Southport on the northern end of the Gold Coast might be the best option. Basing your Gold Coast holiday accommodation in Southport is also perfect if you have younger children because of the wonderful water park and playgrounds located at the Broadwater Parklands in Southport.
  3. Getting around - if you are on the Gold Coast during holiday season then driving can be a nightmare. Often limiting your driving and instead riding a bike or even walking can be a real stress reliever and make for a more enjoyable holiday. Again choosing your family accommodation in Southport will allow you access to a wonderful array of bike trails and walking paths. Southport is also well serviced with public transport.

Once you've come up with a bit of a list then you can narrow down your search. An example of a more specific search might be a Google search – Southport Family Accommodation, Southport Self Contained Apartments or Holiday Apartments Southport Gold Coast. This will bring up on the first page a number of your big online accommodation resellers eg Wotif, Booking.Com, Agoda and the list goes on. Click on one of those and enter your price range and dates of your stay and a list of options will come up. Short list a few places and then find out what other holiday makers have thought about those places by going on Trip Advisor.

Trip Advisor is a site where people can submit reviews about accommodation, restaurants and tours. Once you've logged in to Trip Advisor type in the name of the accommodation complex and you'll be able to read the reviews and also see how the complex ranks against other providers in the same area.

My advice then is to ring the resort directly and speak to the managers. By doing this you will get an immediate feel for how you might be treated as a guest and you can ask the managers about the facilities, location of the rooms etc. You won't pay anymore than on the other sites but you will get a lot more insight into the nature of the complex.

Taking that little bit of extra time in refining what you really want regarding your accommodation on the Gold Coast can be the difference between an excellent choice and an average or disastrous choice.
