The Gold Coast Airport Marathon has truly become an international event. It brings many overseas competitors to the Gold Coast with the magnificent scenic course showcasing the iconic coastline. The event is held over the first weekend of July with Saturday catering for the shorter 5km & 10 km races and Sunday the 21km and 42km races. With more than 20,000 people competing over the weekend the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is the biggest annual sporting event held on the Gold Coast.
Many competitors choose to make a full weekend of the event and stay for a couple of nights on the Gold Coast. Staying somewhere within walking distance of the start line is certainly the preference as the staging of such a big sporting event brings many road closures and diversions. Aqualine Apartments is located in Southport,1 km from the start/finish line making it one of only a handful of accommodation places within easy walking distance. If you’re planning on running the marathon and want to stay in a comfortable fully self contained apartment close to the start then Aqualine should be on your list.
As you can imagine the demand for accommodation is huge so you really do need to plan ahead and book well in advance. We are usually fully booked within a month or two of the race finishing. If you have ever contemplated having a go at the half or full marathon then the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is the perfect event for your first go – it is flat, the race is held during winter and the course is spectacular. Hope to see you down here for the next race
